Each of the 47 County Public Service Boards recruits independently for its county government. The Forum does not recruit for counties and does not receive job applications on their behalf. Use the directory of County Public Service Boards to reach each Board's official website.
Important notice to the public
No County Public Service Board charges any fee for application, shortlisting, interviews or appointment. Anyone asking for money or favours in exchange for a job is a fraudster. Do not pay. Report such cases to the relevant County Public Service Board, the National Police Service or the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). The Forum does not offer jobs on behalf of counties.
How county recruitment works
- Advertisement: vacancies are advertised on the county's official website, the Board's notice boards and at least one newspaper of national circulation, and may be shared on official social media.
- Application: applicants submit applications as instructed in the advert, often through an online portal, by the stated deadline.
- Shortlisting: applications are assessed against the advertised requirements; shortlisted candidates are published or contacted.
- Interviews and assessment: shortlisted candidates appear for interviews and any tests, carrying original documents.
- Clearances: for certain positions, candidates may be required to obtain clearance from bodies such as the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Higher Education Loans Board, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, a credit reference bureau and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (certificate of good conduct), consistent with Chapter Six.
- Appointment: successful candidates receive a letter of appointment from the Board.
Tips for applicants
- Read the advert carefully and meet every stated requirement before applying.
- Attach clear copies of certificates, testimonials and identification as requested.
- Apply before the deadline; late applications are not considered.
- Persons with disabilities, women, youth and members of minority and marginalised communities are encouraged to apply where adverts say so. Indicate any reasonable accommodation you need for interviews.
- Keep your phone and email active and check the Board's website for shortlists.
